Night of Hunters intro by tori

Star Whisperer

variation on: Schubert, Andantino (from Sonata in A major D 959)

Lyrics by Tori Amos

Lost star whisperer
where
where
where have you gone?
Lost star whisperer
will your Cloud Riders come?
why
why have you locked up your sky?
Night Sky whisper me back to life

Night warns of an eastern threat
North calls reinforcements from the west
Lost all reason guarded by the wise
sing to life the Seven Lords of Time

Lost star whisperer
send for your Cloud Riders to come
why
why have you locked up your sky?
Night Sky whisper me back to life

then I heard you scream
from the other side of the mountain
I saw a "you" I didn't want to see
I heard you scream
from the other side of the mountain

[musical interlude]

Then I heard you scream
from the other side of the mountain
you saw a "me" I didn't want to see
I heard you scream
from the other side of the mountain

Lost star whisperer
where
where
where have you gone?

Forged of fire and song
you warn Hate shadows Love
why
why have you locked up your sky?
Night Sky whisper me back to life

Tori Quotes

"Star Whisperer" is where Tori begins to sing directly to his soul. She refers to "him" as you for the first time in our song cycle. "He" begins to have a voice and perspective as he speaks to her through different instruments. The elixir Anabelle has given Tori has taken her into the dimension of "Star Whisperer" which is over 9 minutes in length and becomes an emotional discovery whereby Tori realizes that, "you saw a me I didn't want to see," as well as, "I saw a you I didn't want to see." [Night of Hunters commentary - July 2011]

The Schubert piece ["Piano Sonata in A Major, D. 959," 1828], which became "Star Whisperer," was the first to lock itself in. Once the Schubert piece started haunting me, it began merging with this refrain that I came up with many years ago: "I heard you scream from the other side of the mountain." I couldn't hear one without the other. Then the trick was to develop the instrumental section. Once this piece got cracked, it was clear that everything else had to work around it -- it was the centerpiece. This had to be a place of discovery for her on the record. We had to arrive at this place, and then we had to transform from this place. That was the key component of the story... We began to see a sensuality and get a sense of what this world sounded like, smelled like, tasted like, felt like. "Star Whisperer" was our guide. [M Music & Musicians - November 2011]
