GOD

Tori Amos has her new East West single "God" released on October 3rd, with remixes courtesy of Detroit legend Carl Craig and The Joy. "God" is taken from Tori's current album, "Under The Pink" which entered the UK chart at no. 1. Since its release at the beginning of 1994, "Under The Pink" has sold almost 1 million copies in the US and is fast approaching platinum status in the UK where it has already spawned three his singles, "Cornflake Girl", "Past the Mission" and "Pretty Good Year".

The accompanying video for "God" was directed by Melodie McDaniel who directed Porno For Pyros' "Cursed Female" and The Cranberries "Linger" promo.

Written by Tori, "God" is flipped with the Acapella Vocal & Rain Mix by Carl Craig on 7inch and cassette. The 12inch leads with The Thinking Mix 2 by Carl Craig and is joined by the Acapella Vocal & Rain Mix and The Rainforest Resort Mix, both by Carl Craig, as well as the CJ Bolland Remix. The CD format features "God", The Dharma Kaya Mix by The Joy, Carl Craig's Rainforest Resort Mix and The Thinking Mix 2.

Tori recently received the 1994 Visionary Award from the Washington DC Rape Crisis Centre. The award cites individuals who have fought to create a world free of sexual violence and other forms of oppression. Tori is a founding member of the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN). In the U.S. RAINN has created the first nationwide 24-hour sexual assault helpline with a toll-free number which will confidentially connect callers to the rape crisis centre closest to them, providing over 2,000 victims a month with invaluable support.

Tori is currently in the middle of a marathon, cross-country tour of the US which will continue through to the end of the summer. At the end of the year she heads off to the Far East for a major tour.
