TORI AMOS' "BOYS FOR PELE" PASSES PLATINUM PLATEAU; SRO "DEW DROP INN" TOUR ROLLS ON

"BOYS FOR PELE," the third solo album from Atlantic recording artist Tori Amos, has been certified platinum by the RIAA for U.S. sales in excess of one million units. Produced by Amos, "BOYS FOR PELE" was released in January 1996 and debuted at #2 in its first week on the national pop chart. This is Tori's third consecutive RIAA platinum album, following "LITTLE EARTHQUAKES" (1992) and "UNDER THE PINK" (1994).

Atlantic Group Co-Chairman-Co-CEO Val Azzoli commented: "Since the release of her first solo album just four years ago, Tori's inspired artistic vision has earned her millions of devoted fans around the world -- fans who embrace her music with uncommon passion and dedication. All of us at Atlantic are blessed to be able to work with an artist of Tori's exceptional gifts, and I would like to congratulate her on this latest achievement in her ever-evolving creative life."

The platinum certification of "BOYS FOR PELE" comes in the midst of a flurry of Tori activity. Her acclaimed, SRO "Dew Drop Inn" world tour, which began in Europe in February, is slated to continue crossing North America through late-October. Meanwhile, "BOYS FOR PELE" recently yielded two new releases: the "HEY JUPITER" E.P., which features a new version of the title song plus four previously unavailable live tracks; and a CD5 Maxi Single containing remixes of "Professional Widow," which recently topped Billboard's "Club Play" chart.

Ms. Amos's version of Bruce Springsteen's "I'm On Fire" is the lead radio/video track from the forthcoming Atlantic collection, "CROSSROADS," which consists primarily of previously unreleased live recordings from the acclaimed VH1 program; the album is slated for release on October 1st. Ms. Amos was recently the subject of a feature story on ABC-TV's Primetime Live, which aired on August 21st, and she will be appearing on CBS-TV's Late Show with David Letterman on October 4th.

In addition, the new Igloo Records label -- formed by Amos and her manager, Arthur Spivak -- made its premiere earlier this month with the self-titled debut album from the Los Angeles-based band Pet (released via TAG/Atlantic).
